Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.
A senior official stated the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in five years prior.
